Yesterday we launched iPlacemarks 1.1. A significant step forward where we grew our offerings 3x. Check it out on your iPhone at http://www.iPlacemarks.com
We went from offering 4 sleek and useful location shortcut buttons to 12 !!! Based on our initial tests we realized that there is a button out there for everyone. The possibilities for what your 1 click Placemark does for you are very very extensive. I The limits are your imagination, a map, and an icon. Here are some examples:
- Are you a midnight snacker of Krispy Kreme ? We got a button for you !
- Hate paying ATM fees just because you have no idea where the closest BofA is ? We hate it too so we got a button for you!!
- Like to stay healthy ? We got your shortcuts to subway and jamba.
- A Coffee Connoisseur ? we can take you to all the indie local spots are you in just 1 click
;).
- In a rush ? Want drive thru ? We can show you the closest Wendy’s or Jack.
Here check out how all the new buttons look installed on an iPhone homescreen:

first 12 Placemarks from iPlacemarks.com
We also added the following features:
- New Share button on the iplacemarks.com homepage
- Improved the UI for the interstitial sharing.
- Added a “Consider your options” row of 4 Placemark buttons in the interstitial page
It is amazing how things start to snowball in the entrepreneurial world. At first the resistance to getting an idea up and running is tremendous. However with every baby step that you take down the road of changing the world to incorporate your vision into reality it becomes easier to take the next.
The analogy that comes to mind for me is skiing. When you are at the top of a mountain (e.g. Squaw valley, tahoe) and you want to get the best possible run, you have to hike up a little extra bit to the very top of an untouched cornice. Those extra steps in the virgin powder are real tough, you keep sinking in deeper and deeper the closer you get to the very tip of the cornice. But once you do, from there all you got to do is jump off the cornice and your momentum is kicked off and you keep picking up speed all the way to the bottom. I think iPlacemarks.com is almost at the top of the cornice
Stay tuned.
